What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do

I’m Paige Wassel. WAS the Newsletter is your weekly dose of design inspiration, where today, we look for the helpers.
WILDFIRE RELIEF
My city of Los Angeles is still on fire as I write this, so this isn’t going to be a regular newsletter.
People have two questions right now: “Are you okay?” and “How can we help?”
Tens of thousands of acres and structures have ceased to exist. Entire neighborhoods are gone. The wildfires have consumed everything in their path as firefighters struggle to try to contain them. This is shaping up to be the costliest fire in US history and that only covers the financial devastation. The emotional devastation is immeasurable.
So if you’re sitting at home, feeling impotent over how you can help, here are some places you can donate.
American Red Cross is providing disaster relief.
World Central Kitchen is providing meals.
The Los Angeles Fire Department is doing… everything.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is accepting donations and looking for volunteers.
The California Fire Foundation is helping support impacted residents.
The IAFW is providing emergency support for the impacted community and animals.
Go Fund Me has verified and organized groups of victims who are seeking help.
The Salvation Army is providing food, necessities, and shelter.
Pasadena Humane is treating injured animals.
Animal Wellness Foundation is sheltering animals whose owners had to evacuate but could not take their pets. (There are a lot of instances where people were at work and weren’t allowed to go back to their homes to get their pets.)
CNN’s Impact Your World is a clearinghouse donating to multiple charities.
Thank you for anything you can do or give.
